Rock 'N' Roll 1/2 Marathon

13.1 Mile Run
Elite Athlete Press Conference - August 30, 2002

Last year Deena Drossin said she'd be back after winning the inaugural Rock 'n' Roll 1/2 marathon. True to her word, she has returned to Virginia Beach and she brought along a few of her running friends. Pictured above are Deena Drossin, USA, the defending Rock 'n' Roll Champion, Elana Meyer, Republic of South Africa, the World Record Holder in the Half Marathon and Jen Rhines, USA, who is running in her first half marathon.

The men's field is just as impressive. At the microphone discussing the field is the men's Half Marathon World Record Holder, Paul Tergat, Kenya. Behind Tergat is American Ryan Shay competing in his first half marathon, Getache Kebede, Ethiopia, Josh Cox, USA and Simson Limareng of Kenya.

Mike Hall, the man responsible for assembling this highly competitive field, introduces the Elite Men.
